"Approximately 10 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (under active thyroid). After much research and many tests, I had no choice but to go on medication to regulate my thyroid. Something I was not happy about but told I would have to do for the rest of my life. From that moment on I was on a quest to find a way to take as little medication as possible. At that same time, my husband and I started practicing yoga and I have been practicing ever since. As I learned, through my practices, workshops, trainings, and from my magnificent teachers, the benefits of yoga are limitless. One of which is stimulation of the thyroid through breathing and postures such as shoulder stand, plow, fish and bridge pose. I practiced and practiced and persevered. Yoga is a journey, after all, and while most benefits are immediate some take time.
Finally...a breakthrough!!! After a recent checkup, the endocrinologist informed me that my thyroid levels were regulating and reversing. The medication would be reduced!! WoooHooo!!
I confidently and emphatically attribute this to yoga. More specifically hot yoga, 40 Days to Personal Revolution and Garden State Yoga. Truly a transformation has taken place! Proof positive of the power of mind, body and spirit working together to heal.

"With a busy schedule like mine (working full time and grad school part-time), Garden State Yoga really keeps me in balance. Some days I come in feeling on edge only to leave with a rejuvenated feeling that you cannot put a price tag on. "Thanks again for a wonderful first class at Garden State Yoga this past Sunday. I was the first one who arrived, a bit nervous that I might pass out in hot yoga! I made it - largely due to your fun, inspiring and supportive teaching style. The Beatles didn't hurt either! What I loved best was that you kept circling the room checking on us vs. taking class yourself, remaining at the front of the room. I've been in situations like that and didn't feel very well taken care of. Because you kept your eye on us, I was much more relaxed and present, not having to worry that if my alignment was off, I wouldn't know it until I'd injured myself!
