This workshop demystifies arm balancing and inversions and will carve a path toward executing more advanced postures up side down with fearlessness. We will look at the more subtle mechanics of these difficult asanas while experimenting with new & interesting ways of entering and abiding in them. The following postures will be explored in a safe, fun and playful environment: Flying Crow (eka pada galavasana), Headstand into Backbend variations, Handstand variations. WORKSHOP IS NOT HEATED. (We suggest student can practice crow pose, headstand and full wheel without assistance to fully enjoy this workshop.)

It’s time to float and fly in the flow with Andrew and Trella. In this two-hour workshop you will learn on all things about getting light in transitions: the setup, basic principals, cultivation of bandhas and inversion integration and the building blocks to getting light. You will focus on jumping up, into and out of arm balances and of course transitioning upside down all within the flow. You will progressively warm up the parts of the body specific for inverting and will detail some less common and super fun variations. All students are welcome from the experienced to the person that is a little hesitant.

Danielle Diamond is owner and creator of Xen Strength Yoga. She teaches a kick-butt class focused on alignment and breath. Ali Campbell is a yoga teacher who loves to practice and teach by slowing things down as a way to balance the business of daily life. Ali studies at the Breathing Project in NYC and is a self-proclaimed anatomy geek. Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine that has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years. Spreading to the West as a “sister science” of Yoga, it offers tremendous insight into how we can live healthier, more balanced lives. Amy Pastore is an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist with a certification through the Kripalu school of Ayurveda. In this 3 hour workshop you will learn specific dietary, lifestyle and yogic practices that will prepare you to enter into the winter season by boosting your immunity, balancing you energy body, and soothe your complexion and disposition. Students will also be given specific recipes for an optional 3-10 day Ayurvedic Kitchari cleanse. The second part of workshop will be an Ayurvedic Yoga practice that will include cleansing pranayama and asana specifically designed to protect and warm the body, mind and heart for the winter months. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to workshops. Workshop will begin promptly and unfortunately late comers are not able to join. Inversions strengthen the upper body, tone the abs, improve balance, rejuvenate the organs and calm the mind. Often, going upside down is scary, but very rewarding once we are there. In this workshop we will explore how to get into several basic inversions in a safe and fearless way. Each inversion will be broken down and made accessible to all levels of practitioners. This workshop will focus on the following postures: Downdog, Headstand, Tripod Headstand, Forearm Stand, Handstand Prep and Shoulder Stand. We will go over variations in each, use props to put the body in alignment and explore with and without the wall. Defy gravity, turn your world upside down, and who knows… you may walk away seeing the world in an entirely new light. We learn to stand on our head, so we can stand more firmly on our feet.

When we invert we often lose our awareness of where the body is in space, triggering fear and fatigue. Learning alignment and developing core strength will help us to get up (and stay!) as well as safely come down. In this workshop we will explore: • Baddha Hasta Sirsasana A, B, C and D (Bound Hand Headstands) • Mukta Hasta Sirsasana A, B and C (Open Hand Headstands) • Pincha Mayurasana & Funky Pincha (Forearm Stand) • Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand) This workshop will begin with a strong flow focused on building our core and locking in our alignment. Setting up strong alignment techniques will help us get up and stay up longer. Becky will teach you how to add inversions to your daily Power Yoga practice, dispelling the fear of going upside down.

The best asanas to develop that sense of center are those focusing on balance. In this workshop we will focus on balancing from all directions since balancing the mind is just as important, if not more so, than the body. In this balancing workshop we will work with meditation, restorative poses, and Pranayama beathing to calm our senses and bring our thoughts to the present.
